Automobile carries the same meaning as motor car or simply car. Generally an automobile should carry an engine or a motor, having four wheels and is designed to run on roads.
Sri Lanka is still not technically and industrially rich to produce autos or motor vehicles with in the country, there are a very few vendors who import the accessories and assembled the vehicles in their assembling plants. Most of the automobiles are imported from Japan while recently the trend is having a smaller deviation towards the Indian Market. The Indian vehicles are famous among the middle class of the people due to their economy in fuel consumption and cost of ownership. But still, the Japanese vehicles are famous due to their quality, durability, reliability and the comfort of the passengers. In Sri Lanka the automobile dealers are generally addressed as “car sales” even though they sell vehicles in a wide range.
